Product Overview

Lizard's Tail (Saururus cernuus)

The bright green heart shaped foliage is accented with 4"-6" long spikes of fragrant white flowers in early summer. The shape and size of the blooms are reminicient of a lizard's tail (we don't know who tough of that, but it really does if you are an expert in lizard anatomy, and it is a lot more attractive than is sounds!). Lizard's Tail is shade tolerant, easy to grow and winters well. Multiplies by underground runners. US native.

Hardiness Zone: 4-11
Planting Container: We recommend a 2 gallon solid planting container or a medium planting bag.
Light Requirements: full sun to part shade
Height: 12" to 36" - Spread: Running spread
Water Depth: Moist to 6" below water surface (Maximum water depth is for mature bog plants)

For planting instructions see our: Planting Instructions for Bog Plants Page.

Cannot be shipped to Puerto Rico.

    pond plants

Posted by jeff lieske on Apr 29th 2021

All the plants i ordered including the lizards tale arrived in great shape and healthy looking. Hopefully they`ll start growing only been in the pond for a few days. I think i have found my new place to purchase pond plants, these seemed bigger than from some of the other places. I really like the look of the lizards tale waiting to see how it does in my bog garden and may get more.

    LIZARD'S TAIL

Posted by Patricia Perez on May 19th 2020

I was very pleased when I received my delivery. All the plants were packed thoughtfully, healthy and a good size. If comparison to other on-line suppliers I've tried in the past, Lily Blooms was a 100% positive experience. Thank you!

Got 2 separate plants in one pot: one is bigger than expected and the other half its size. Arrived healthy and we'll packed.
