Product Overview

Lemna species (duckweeds) are our smallest floating pond plants. There are a number of species, and often more than one species is present--they average 1/16th" to 1/4" in diameter, and due to their small size are normally just sold as duckweed without distinguishing among the species. Fish love to eat duckweed, so even though it grows quickly your fish may eat it to extinction unless you grow some in a separate container to have a ready supply on hand. Duckweed is an extremely nutritious addition to your fishes' diet, as it contains many healthy vitamins, enzymes and plant nutrients in addition to what they can get in a dried food. Duckweed is made up of many tiny plants, and is sold by the 1/2 cup portion with a 3 portion minimum.

Healthy "salad" for goldfish containing high protein and minerals. I keep some growing at all times in a separate net covered shallow container (covered to keep small animals from falling in.)
