Water Poppy (Hydrocleys nymphoides) Lily-Like Aquatic
Dark green, rounded leaves are accented by abundant, creamy yellow, 2" flowers. Once water temperatures reach 70-75 degrees, Water Poppy will begin blooming and will continue to bloom into the fall until the first frost. Prefers full sun, although will tolerate shade. Can be planted the same as tropical water lilies, but in a smaller container.
Hardiness Zone: 6-11
PLANTING CONTAINER: We recommend a 7.5" x 5" fabric pot to grow a regular sized plant, and a 10" x 6" fabric pot to grow a large sized plant. Click on any fabric pot link to read about why fabric pots work better than hard plastic pots!
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS: Full sun to partial shade; any shade will reduce the number of blooms
Height: Leaves float on surface, plant is rooted in soil, Spread: 12" to 24+", reproduces rapidly by runners
Water Depth: 4" to 24+", deeper water is for mature plants
Water Poppy is shipped bare root or in a small pot, and must be planted directly in the bottom or into a larger pot.
