Product Overview
Nymphaea 'Witch Dorothy' Hot Pink Bicolor Hardy Water Lily
Witch Dorothy is a fantastic new cultivar from the Wanvisa complex, with stunning blooms of deeply saturated hot pink with just a hint of orange undertones, and with petals lightly but distinctly and evenly speckled white. Like Wanvisa, occasionally you will see a blooms that have a wedge of solid yellow, as if the flower is a pie that someone took a slice from and replaced with a slice of lemon! When that happens, it can be a small slice, or a 1/4 or even half of the bloom, providing a little surprise and variety in the bouquet of flowers!
Each bloom is slightly different, but every bloom we have seen is an eye-catching, with plenty of hot pink.
Unlike several related cultivars that have come before (Paranee, Lava Walk, Siam Fantasy), Witch Dorothy's degree of variegation appears to be very stable---appearing in every flower--as well as providing far superior eye-popping color saturation! Witch Dorothy does not have the extreme, shocking contrast of colors that Ring of Fire has; Witch Dorothy is more reminiscent of Wanvisa, although with much stronger color saturation and superior blooming.
Witch Dorothy has attractive chocolate leaves liberally marbled with green.
A very good bloomer, maximize Witch Dorothy's number and size of blooms with a large pot and regular fertilization.

SIZE: Medium to Large, yet with a compact growing habit (5'+ Spread)
PLANTING CONTAINER: We recommend a 12.5" x 7" or 15" x 7" fabric pot. Click on the link to read about why fabric pots work better!
FERTILIZING: For best health and growth, and especially for maximizing the size and number of blooms, we recommend fertilizing waterlilies regularly. Use Pondtabbs 20 count, 60 count, or 300 count for fast release, or Aquascape 6 count or 12 count capsules for slow release (once a year) fertilizing. Aquascape is preferred for low maintenance, but Pondtabbs are useful in Spring when Aquascape is slow to start in low temperatures. Pondtabbs are also useful for a quick extra nutrient push for extra bloom, and for mid-summer fertilizing of a new plant (we don't recommend using slow release fertilizer in mid-summer or later in cold climates, as plants should run out of fertilizer at the end of the year to encourage dormancy in cold climates).
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS: Full sun to partial shade; the more sun, the more bloom
WATER DEPTH: 6-24" (Maximum water depth is for mature water lilies). Shallow water encourages more leave growth and less bloom.
USDA HARDINESS ZONES: 4-11
Water Lilies are shipped bare root and will require planting upon arrival. For in depth planting instructions visit Hardy Waterlily Planting Instructions
