Product Overview

Nymphaea 'Perry's Orange Sunset'

The Perry's Orange Sunset water lily has uniquely colored pads and a deep Peach/Orange flower. Some water lilies have nice pads and mediocre flowers, and some water lilies have beautiful flowers and mediocre looking pads. Perry's Orange Sunset is beautiful in both aspects with a deep Peach colored flower and deep green pads with heavy mottling.

SIZE: Medium to Large (5'+ Spread)

PLANTING CONTAINER: We recommend a  12.5" x 7" or 15" x 7" fabric pot. Click on the link to read about why fabric pots work better!

FERTILIZING: For best health and growth, and especially for maximizing the size and number of blooms, we recommend fertilizing waterlilies regularly. Use Pondtabbs 20 count, 60 count, or 300 count for fast release, or Aquascape 6 count or 12 count capsules for slow release (once a year) fertilizing. Aquascape is preferred for low maintenance, but Pondtabbs are useful in Spring when Aquascape is slow to start in low temperatures. Pondtabbs are also useful for a quick extra nutrient push for extra bloom, and for mid-summer fertilizing of a new plant (we don't recommend using slow release fertilizer in mid-summer or later in cold climates, as plants should run out of fertilizer at the end of the year to encourage dormancy in cold climates).

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS: Full sun to partial shade; the more sun, the more bloom

WATER DEPTH: 12" TO 36" (Maximum water depth is for mature water lilies)

USDA HARDINESS ZONES: 4-11

Water Lilies are shipped bare root and will require planting upon arrival. For in depth planting instructions visit  Hardy Waterlily Planting Instructions

I started out with a no. 2 wash tub when I ordered this Lily expecting to get what you usually get, a very small plant. This Lily was so big I gladly had to buy a stock tank for it. It's so beautiful & doing great, tks, LilyBlooms

    May Contain Duckweed

Posted by Alyssa on Aug 18th 2016

Purchased 3 species of plant from here and one came contaminated with duckweed seeds. I'm pretty sure it was the frogbit, though, and not this lily. Lily took a little while to get growing. In fact, for about a month there where no visible changes. Then there was a bit of an accident with a dechlorinating agent and the two top leaves it came with started to die. This caused the plant to start sending up new pads fast. I now have 3 completely new pads at the surface, and the original pads are gone. Seems like it's going to continue growingb quickly now. Some notes: the established pads it came with were almost solid green, not like the flecked red color in the picture. But the new pads are so flecked they're almost solid purple! I guess they grow greener they mature. Anyways, I'm glad I purchased it! It's the crown jewel of my little pond. :)
