Product Overview

Golden Japanese Flag (Acorus gramineus 'Ogon')

Golden Japanese Flag is an attractive shallow water plant with tufts of light green foliage which is accented with bright yellow, giving it a golden appearance. Beautiful, low growing accent plant for the water garden edge. Golden Sweet Flag is evergreen in Zone 6 and above and adds color to the water garden all winter.

Golden Japanese Flag may also be grown in the regular garden (especially in partial shade), provided the soi is kept moist.

Hardiness Zone: 6-11
Planting Container: We recommend a 7.5" x 5" fabric pot to grow a regular sized plant, and a 10" x 6" fabric pot to grow a large sized plantClick on any fabric pot link to read about why fabric pots work better than hard plastic pots!
Light Requirements: full sun to part shade
Height: 8"-12" - Spread: 12"
Water Depth: Moist soil or water up to 2" deep (Maximum water depth is for mature bog plants)

FERTILIZING: For best health and growth, we recommend fertilizing regularly (unless using the plants in a plant filtration system!). Use Pondtabbs 20 count, 60 count, or 300 count for a fast release fertilizer.

Plants are shipped bare root or in starter pots, and will require planting upon arrival. For in depth planting and care instructions visit our Planting and Care Instructions for Shallow Water and Bog Plants.

    Sweet Flag

The plants arrived in perfect shape due to safe packaging. I may not have had to, but I split the small growing containers they were in to replant into a larger pot. I kept them with wet feet and out of the sun for 24 hours. They seem to be doing fine now. Completely satisfied.
